SAGINAW TOWNSHIP -- Police have caught a man whom they believe robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store in Saginaw Township around 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Investigators say a man came into the store, bought some candy, and then pulled out a machete that had been duct taped along the edge. The man then demanded the clerk give him money from the cash register. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of money.
When the man left, the clerk called police. Police used a K-9 unit that took them to the Pheasant Run Apartment Complex where the candy wrappers were found. The machete was later located outside the convenience store. Police soon found the man and his twin brother at the apartment complex. Both men have been arrested, but the money has not been recovered.
Police are reviewing surveillance tapes and taking finger prints from the machete.
