LANSINGToday, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) issued the following statement and praised the Big Three for recent announcements that the automakers are increasing production due to rising demand.

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow said, “As author of the legislation in the Senate, I was pleased to hear that rising demand for fuel efficient vehicles brought on by ‘Cash for Clunkers’ has lead Chrysler, Ford and GM to increase production.  For us in Michigan, that means people are going back to work.

“Since it began, we have heard good news about ‘Cash for Clunkers’ from across the country.  Families and small businesses are buying the vehicles they need.  The Big Three and dealerships are seeing higher sales.  Workers on car lots and in auto plants are getting more shifts and overtime on their jobs.  I am happy to say that ‘Cash for Clunkers’ is putting people to work and stimulating our economy.”
