(AP) -- DETROIT - Detroit authorities say they're bringing adult murder charges against a 12-year-old boy they say shot and killed a 24-year-old Flint-area woman during a robbery.
Conviction on first-degree murder could bring a sentence of life in prison without parole for Demarco Harris.
Wayne County prosecutor's spokeswoman Maria Miller tells the Detroit Free Press it's a "very serious crime" and says an adult prosecution is "appropriate under the facts of this situation."
Police say Harris approached Trisha Babcock of Davison with a handgun as she sat in a car Aug. 1. They say the two struggled and Harris shot Babcock in the chest.
Police Chief Warren Evans called a news conference Wednesday on the case.
