(AP) -- State workplace safety officials are investigating an accident in which an Ingham County Road Commission worker was killed. Authorities say 54-year-old Thomas Doyle died Tuesday while doing shoulder work in White Oak Township, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Lansing. The 32-year veteran of the road commission was run over by a truck that was backing up to level asphalt it had just spread.
Doyle was pronounced dead at the scene. Bob Pawlowski, director of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration's construction, safety and health division, says the investigation will determine if any state regulations were violated. He tells the Lansing State Journal the probe is expected to take at least a month.
