(AP) -- An 18-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Wixom man killed with a golf club during a fight sparked by a cell-phone argument. Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper says Robert Lowry of White Lake Township was arraigned Thursday in district court in Novi on the felony charge. She says a jury also could select an alternative count of manslaughter.
Lowry is charged in the death of 18-year-old Justin Hussin. Police say Hussin was hit in the back of the head with a golf club Tuesday in Wixom. Investigators say an argument escalated with a series of text messages leading up to the brawl.
Lowry has requested a court-appointed attorney. A pre-exam conference is set for Sept. 9.
