(AP) -- Most of Michigan's state government employees are on their sixth and final unpaid furlough day of the summer Friday. Most state government offices will be closed, including Secretary of State offices. State government will operate much like it does on a public holiday.

Services that should continue without interruption include prisons, Michigan State Police patrols, state psychiatric hospitals and emergency human services programs. Unemployment office call centers and problem resolution offices will be open as they have been on previous furlough days.

Michigan expects to save about $22 million by having the six furlough days this summer.

The fiscal year for Michigan state government ends Sept. 30.
