(AP) -- Finlandia University has started offering two-year degree programs in medical assistance and radiography starting this semester. The 500-student school in the Upper Peninsula community of Hancock is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Finlandia says it will take five semesters over two years to earn a Medical Assistant associate degree. Participants will have to complete two "externships." The program prepares students to take the medical certification exam or to move on to four-year degree programs.

Finlandia says it will take seven semesters over three years to earn a Radiography associate degree. It's a collaboration with the Marquette General Health System School of Radiography.
