(AP) -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered that U.S. flags in Michigan be flown at half-staff to honor a soldier from Monroe who was killed in Afghanistan.

Granholm's office says flags should be lowered Wednesday for 19-year-old Army Pfc. Eric W. Hario. He died Aug. 28 from injuries sustained from small arms fire in Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

Hario was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.
