Hurley Medical Center received more than $120,000 to help keep kids safe. It’s all part of “National Child Passenger Safety Week.” The check was presented by Kohl’s department stores to Hurley at Kearsley Park in Flint Saturday.
$121,569 was given through a grant. The outreach effort is known as “Kohl’s Care for Kids’ Safety.” The effort funds child safety seat inspections, booster seats and other safety precautions. Officials with both Kohl’s and Hurley said the donation is critical in tough times.
“It feels awesome especially at a point when the economy is a little rough, to partner with Hurley Medical Center and do something like this,” said Tim Madson, store manager of the Kohl’s outlet in Flint.
"This check is very important,” said project organizer Kathy Coleman of Hurley Medical Center. “With all of the cut backs from GM, we are grateful this check will allow us to continue our inspection station in checking car seats, (distributing) safety items such as smoke detectors and the bike helmets."
