OWOSSO -- Both in song and in prayer, more than 100 family members, friends and those touched by abortion protester James Pouillon’s murder gathered across the street from the spot where he was gunned down Friday.
The site was Owosso High School. NBC25 spoke with Roger Pouillon, the victim’s nephew. “It’s hard. It was very shocking when I found out,” he said.
"I'm broken hearted over the loss of Jim, but I'm thankful for his life and I'm thankful for Jesus Christ. He had saved Jim and took him to heaven,” said life long friend Cal Zastrow.
Zastrow said many are also praying for Harlan Drake and his family. Drake is the man charged with Pouillon’s murder, and that of Owosso-area businessman Michael Fuoss. Fuoss was also remembered at the event.
While the nation continues to follow this tragedy, many in Owosso look for answers and vow to never forget.
”I’m just taking it day by day,” said Roger Pouillon.
