(AP) -- Villages and cities in 40 Michigan counties are holding elections. Tuesday is election day for about 90 villages and 10 cities that have chosen not to hold elections in November, as most others do. They're allowed by law to hold elections on the first Tuesday after the second Monday in September in odd-numbered years.
Those interested in finding out if there's an election in their community can check with their county clerk's office or visit the secretary of state's Web site at www.michigan.gov/sos.
