(AP) -- The U.S. Justice Department says a federal grand jury in Detroit has indicted 16 people linked to a violent gang that dealt cocaine in the Pontiac area. Several defendants also face firearms charges. Detroit U.S. Attorney Terrence Berg said in a statement Tuesday the charges come out of an investigation of cocaine and crack cocaine sales from 2007 to 2009. Berg says 76 agents and police helped execute 12 federal and two state search warrants in the case in July.
Thomas Brandon is special agent in charge of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms in Detroit. He says the FBI, state police and the Auburn Hills and Pontiac police departments cooperated in the case.
