BAY CITY -- The following is a message from Senator Barcia :
Senator Barcia is pleased to announce that the joint Capital Outlay Committee unanimously approved a $300,000 increase in funding yesterday [Wednesday] to secure the site for a new State Police Post in Williams Township. “I am delighted that the Department of Management and Budget (DMB) has selected the site in Williams Township for our new Bay County State Police Post”, said Senator Barcia. “The property, so generously donated by Dow Corning, is perfectly situated to allow for improved response times and more effective law enforcement throughout the tri-county region. Although the process took longer than expected, I know that the DMB worked through some complicated issues with deed restrictions and environmental assessments to get the project shovel ready as quickly as they could.”
“I also want to acknowledge the interest of Monitor Township in this site selection process and thank the officials there for being so accommodating to those responsible for making this decision. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bay City Post Commander Lt. John Card, Williams Township Supervisor Tom Paige and the Township Board for their tireless dedication to this vital project, and to everyone at the local and state level for putting so much effort into its success. I’m eager to break ground on our new State Police Post, and look forward to the many public safety benefits its completion will bring to the tri-county region.”
