(AP) -- TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire that injured three firefighters and closed a suburban Detroit elementary school. Taylor Fire Battalion Chief Michael Brennan tells the Detroit Free Press a passer-by noticed the blaze inside Clarence Randall Elementary about 10 p.m. Monday. He said responding firefighters discovered fire inside a classroom used to store books and other supplies.
Three firefighters were treated at a hospital for minor burns and released. Brennan said the fire was contained to the classroom where the fire originated, but the rest of the building suffered extensive smoke damage.
The Taylor School District said on its Web site Tuesday the building's K-5 areas will reopen within two or three days.
