MidMichigan authorities arrest seven people believed to be involved in an online prostitution ring.
The online website used is craigslist.org, where you or your children may be visiting regularly.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell says, "Craigslist prostitutes can charge up to ten times more per client."
It's that big payoff, authorities say, that attracted these women to post classifieds under craigslist's "adult" services.
Pickell says, "Anyone can solicit craigslist prostitutes, regardless of age or innocence, by clicking a mouse."
In fact, one of the accused still has several postings on the website.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Department wants craigslist to yank the ads.
Pickell says, "Prostitution has now crossed the line from Dort Highway and has now entered our homes."
Back in april, a Boston University medical student killed a woman who posted her services on craigslist.
For local authorities, they say, safety in this case goes both ways.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says, "This is more than just solicitation and prostitution. This is a matter of severe public safety."
The accused range in age from 18 to 45 and are from Owosso, East Lansing, Flint, Flint Township, Brighton, and Burton.
The meetings were set up at a Burton Super 8, Flint Township's Red Roof Inn, and a Flint Township mobile home park, where authorities say a husband solicited while his wife prostituted.
Authorities say the women involved are either current or former dancers at night clubs and were inter-connected in this operation.
A prostitution conviction carries a 5-year prison sentence and a $500 fine.
