(AP) -- ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (AP) - An ex-Oakland County official has pleaded guilty to drunken driving. Michael Hamilton pleaded guilty Tuesday to operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A judge dismissed another charge of having an open container of alcohol.
Police say Hamilton failed sobriety tests early on July 18 when he was stopped after leaving a bar in Oxford, about 30 miles north of Detroit.
The Oxford village council accepted his resignation at its July 28 meeting.
Defense lawyer Allen Wolf says Hamilton has admitted his responsibility and wants to learn from "this mistake in judgment and go on with his life."
Sentencing in Rochester Hills district court is set for Nov. 25.
