(AP) -- MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan say a 67-year-old man drowned after his canoe overturned on the Kalamazoo River. The Allegan County sheriff's department says it happened Wednesday afternoon in the Ottawa Marsh in Manlius Township, near Fennville.

The department says David J. Barber and wife Marilyn Barber of Gobles were canoeing when the vessel overturned in the cold water. Marilyn Barber was treated by emergency workers and released.
