(AP) -- FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A public forum will be held this week to discuss Flint's future following years of population decline. The Genesee County Land Bank is hosting the forums titled "Strengthening our Community in the Face of Population Decline." The first was Oct. 8 and a second is set for Tuesday evening. A third forum will be held Nov. 5.
Flint's population has fallen to about 115,000 from a peak of about 197,000, leaving sparsely populated neighborhoods, vacant homes and thousands of empty lots in its wake.
The idea behind the forums is to share information on land use trends, look at ways to deal with abandoned land and get fresh ideas. The focus will be Flint and nearby Mount Morris Township.
The Land Bank aims to help stabilize Flint-area neighborhoods.
