28 Michigan residents have died from the H1N1 virus since September 1, 2009.
The Michigan Department of Community Health reports 4 of those deaths have been people who have had an underlying asthma condition.
The MDCH says 32% of people across the United States with H1N1 have underlying asthma complications.
They advise anyone with asthma should be checked by their doctor, and ensure they are in control of their condition.
If an asthma patient has any flu like symptoms they should contact their health care provider or go to the hospital immediately.
