(AP) -- TROY, Mich. (AP) - Police say a Flint woman headed to court in a retail fraud case was caught with a knife attached to a set of brass knuckles when the weapon set off a metal detector. Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe says 18-year-old Breanna Calvin was arrested Monday morning at District Court in Troy. She was released on a personal bond after being arraigned on a charge of possessing a dangerous weapon, a five-year felony.
McCabe says a metal detector at a security checkpoint indicated Calvin's purse contained an object found to be a 3 1/2-inch-long knife blade attached to a 9-inch-long set of brass knuckles.
McCabe tells the Detroit Free Press that Calvin told police her boyfriend gave her the weapon "for when she's walking in the streets of Flint."
