FRANKENMUTH -- Bavarian Inn's Dorothy Zehnder is known for her original sweet treats and tasty treats. Dorothy was only 16-year -old when she began working as a waitress in Frankenmuth at the Ffisher Hotel at that time.
Now 72 years later; she can still be found doing the thing she loves most. "I'm amazed at myself that I can keep going at my age. I'm 88 now but I do enjoy what I'm doing. I also enjoy the people. I look forward to getting up every morning and going to work" Zehnder tells NBC25 News.
Even on her Birthday December 1st, Dorothy was still hard at work in the kitchen. Her family planned a special birthday dinner for her; however her birthday cake was no surprise because she helped bake it.
Her Granddaughter Amy Zehnder says she has enjoyed working with her Grandmother over the years. "Happy Birthday Grandma, we love you and were looking forward to many years going forward. And I look forward to when she can work in the kitchen with my Daughter when she's older," says Zehnder.
