Michigan health officials say they're loosening guidelines for who gets the swine flu vaccine and hope to make it available to the general public soon.
The state Department of Community Health says health agencies for now will concentrate on target groups to receive the H1N1 vaccine.
Those groups comprise pregnant women, health workers, people 6 months to 24 years old, contacts and caregivers for children under 6 months old, and people 25-64 who have higher risks of complications because of asthma, diabetes, heart, lung or kidney problems or a weakened immune system.
Until now, the swine flu program has focused on a narrower group. Officials say general vaccination "may begin in a few weeks" once the target group members are covered.
