(AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC's chief executive told Michigan lawmakers Tuesday that the company plans to keep its Sterling Heights assembly plant open into 2011. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (MAR-kee-oh-nee) told Rep. Candice Miller and others that the automaker could build future versions of the Chrysler Sebring at the plant near Detroit. Miller asked the Chrysler executive about the plant's future during a meeting with Michigan members of Congress.

Miller says Marchionne told them Chrysler would evaluate in 2011 where future products would be produced and he expected versions of the Sebring to be built in the United States. Chrysler had previously said the plant would be closed next year as part of its bankruptcy plan.
