MONTROSE -- The following is a message from Senator John J. Gleason:
Senator John J. Gleason (D-Flushing) today announced that Montrose Township has been awarded $348,500 from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund for Barber Memorial Park improvements.
“By improving our community parks, we can provide more recreational opportunities to our citizens and make the area more attractive to potential homebuyers and businesses,” said Sen. Gleason. “These funds will help us update and acquire new resources to enhance Barber Memorial Park, making it an even greater asset to Montrose Township.”
The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF) provides funding assistance for Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and local outdoor recreation needs, including land acquisition and development of outdoor recreation facilities. The MNRTF is supported by revenues from the development of state-owned oil and gas resources. Final grant recommendations for this program are made by the MNRTF Board of Trustees.
A total of $108.3 million in acquisition and development applications were evaluated under this program and last week, the MNRTF Board of Trustees recommended nine state and 16 local land acquisition projects totaling $25.9 million, and six state and 36 local development projects totaling $9.7 million.
