(AP) -- LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says snowmobilers are in luck with the opening of trails in many parts of the state. Michigan has a 6,500-mile designated snowmobile network of signed and groomed trails.
The DNR said Wednesday that significant snowfall has allowed the opening of trails in parts of the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula.
The state raised snowmobiling fees to $35 for this season from $25 a year ago.
The department says current trail conditions are available at www.trailreport.com. Other information about winter recreation in Michigan is available at www.michigan.gov/dnr.
