(AP) -- DETROIT (AP) - The two U.S. finalists in the "Voice of McDonald's" singing competition for employees of the fast-food chain work 20 miles apart in southern Michigan. Eddie Davenport, a maintenance worker at McDonald's restaurants in Leslie and Stockbridge, and Fatima Poggi, a crew member at the Dexter outlet, are among 12 finalists chosen from among more than 10,400 employees worldwide who entered the "American Idol"-patterned contest.

The company says the 50-year-old Davenport, of Jackson, is legally blind and likely to completely lose his sight by the end of 2010. The 17-year-old Poggi, a senior at Pinckney High School, was born in Peru and moved at age 14 to Michigan.

The "Voice of McDonald's" finalists will perform in April at the worldwide convention for McDonald's owner-operators in Orlando, Fla. The winner receives $25,000.
