(AP) -- BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Authorities say a woman and her son who kept police at bay for 55 hours during a 1993 standoff in Saginaw that left several police officers wounded have died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
Police on Monday found 86-year-old Plumie Carter and her 64-year-old son Harvest Carter dead inside their home in Saginaw County's Buena Vista Township, about 85 miles northwest of Detroit.
In 1993, authorities say Harvest Carter shot the officers before authorities used a front-end loader to rip down a wall of their Saginaw home and arrest the pair. The standoff began after an officer tried to deliver eviction papers.
Harvest Carter was found not guilty by reason of insanity and his mother was deemed incompetent to stand trial.
