(AP) -- LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Most natural gas customers in Michigan are seeing lower bills so far this heating season because of warmer than normal temperatures and high levels of gas in underground storage. The Michigan Public Service Commission said Monday that temperatures are 2 percent above average so far this heating season. Storage levels are nearly 14 percent above the five-year average.
Since the start of the heating season in November, all Michigan natural gas utility companies except one are asking less in gas recovery costs than their authorized caps. That has meant lower bills for consumers.
The MPSC also reported that the price of natural gas this winter is lower than last year.
