An historic bridge has been removed today.
The 103 year old State Bridge over the Cass River in Bridgeport Township has been the center of much controversy.
Township officials say the bridge was crumbling and could fall into the Cass River below, but community members did not want to part with the icon.
Wednesday, the township began removing the bridge as a part of a $2.3 million rehabilitation project to repair the bridge.
