(AP) -- MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities says two people are dead following the crash of a single engine airplane in southwestern Michigan's Allegan County. The Allegan County Sheriff's Department says the names of the victims - a male and a female - killed in Sunday's crash are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
But Hope College President Jame Bultman said in a statement that the two victims are believed to be students at the college located in Holland, Mich. The sheriff's department said in a statement that it was alerted to a possible plane crash about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the county's Manlius Township.
The two victims were pronounced dead at the crash scene, which is in a snow-covered field.
The department says information indicates the small plane made a distress call shortly before it disappeared from radar.
