(AP) -- BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Kids in Bay County have put their hearts into their support for U.S. soldiers stationed around the world. Libraries throughout the county last week held four workshops at which children and their families made more than 200 Valentine's Day cards that will be sent to the troops.
The libraries provided construction paper and craft decorations to make the valentines, which are sent by Soldiers' Angels, a volunteer-led nonprofit organization that supports men and women in the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, and their families.
Krista Pedersen is children's librarian and children's coordinator at the Alice & Jack Wirt Public Library in Bay City. She says this is the second year of the program and the library system expects to offer it next year as well.
