(AP) -- LOWELL, Mich. (AP) - The body of a 23-year-old west Michigan soldier killed in Afghanistan is being returned home. The Grand Rapids Press and WWMT-TV report U.S. Army Sgt. Lucas Beachnaw's body is to arrive Thursday morning at Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids.

Beachnaw is a 2004 graduate of nearby Lowell High School. He wasm killed by small arms fire on Jan. 13 while serving with the 173rd Airborne Infantry. Beachnaw was on his second tour in Afghanistan. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Ada Bible Church. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered U.S. flags across the state lowered Friday in Beachnaw's honor.
