(AP) -- WASHINGTON (AP) - Michigan is expected to receive $40 million in stimulus funds to develop high-speed rail corridors linking Detroit and Chicago. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are announcing $8 billion in grants Thursday for 13 major corridors around the country.

Michigan's funding will help construct a new station building, platform and passenger services at a new Amtrak station in Dearborn. In Troy, the funds will help build a new platform and passenger services facility.

And in Battle Creek, the grants will renovate a station building and passenger service facility. The $8 billion in funding for high-speed trains and other passenger rail projects is part of the $787 billion recovery act.
