BUENA VISTA -- Buena Vista Police and several local agencies were called to Buena Vista High School around 11:50 am Monday because of a fight.

Principal Rita Cheek says the incident began between two girls over the weekend. It was rekindled at the school Monday afternoon as the girls went from class to lunch.  Several other students became involved in the fight.

Buena Vista Police were called to the scene and were forced to use pepper spray to control the situation.  The two girls were taken into police custody to be questioned.

Principal Cheek says the situation has since been handled and school is back to normal.  Any students or staff who suffered from the pepper spray has been treated.

The principal says she is using this unfortunate incident to teach other students that fighting only causes further problems.

The school will host three forums for concerned parents Tuesday.  They will be at 8:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm at the high school.
