(AP) -- An Alpena woman has been jailed in the death of her estranged husband whose remains were found nearly two years ago. Lori Grotto is being held without bond in the Alpena County Jail after being arrested Thursday by Michigan State police in Alpena, about 190 miles north of Detroit.
The Bay City Times says authorities discovered the torso of 47-year-old Gerald Holmes' on April 6, 2008, in the Thunder Bay River. He had been missing since September 2007. Jail officials did not immediately know whether Grotto had a lawyer.
If convicted, she faces up to life in prison. No further details were released.
