(AP) -- A student-led group at the University of Michigan is planning efforts to aid the long-term recovery of Haiti from the severe earthquake that struck the Caribbean island nation. A planning meeting for the group Tet Ansanm Ak Ayiti is set for Thursday night at the Ann Arbor university's School of Public Health.
Organizers say in a news release their goal is to "develop an institutionalized, university-wide and interdisciplinary partnership with communities in Haiti." They say the goal is to support "long-term capacity building and sustainable recovery."
More than 200,000 Haitians were killed in the quake that struck Jan. 12.
