WAYNE COUNTY (AP) -- Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been arraigned on a probation violation and released on a $10,000 personal bond pending another hearing Thursday.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny entered a not guilty plea on Kilpatrick's behalf Tuesday.

Kenny ordered Kilpatrick to stay in Michigan until Thursday's hearing, when Kenny will rule on a request to remove Judge David Groner from the case.

Kilpatrick lawyer Michael Alan Schwartz says Groner is biased against the ex-mayor.

Kilpatrick missed a deadline to fully pay $79,011 toward the $1 million owed to the city as part of his 2008 criminal case.

Outside court, Kilpatrick says trying to pay the balance of his restitution keeps him up at night. He lives in the Dallas area.
