FLINT -- Nearly a dozen people have been charged for stealing $1 million worth of copper.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell, Prosecutor David Leyton, and Flint Police Chief Alvern Locke say the eleven suspects worked in crews and shifts. They would go into Buick City and steal copper from the abandoned plant.
The officials report this went on from August 2009 to October 2009 until the group began to turn on each other. "Their greed did them in.,” Sheriff Pickell states. “In the end, they turned on each other. They started going into the plant without the other group knowing about it, trying to get more money. So in the end, I think we can probably say, there's no honor among thieves."
The suspects re as follows: Robert Allen Beaucamp (26), Kara Marie Moore (23), John Dewey Warren (36), Marcell DAmon McKelry (38), David Jason Davis (33), William James Moody (45), Daniel Nathan Martin (26), Terry Lewis Taylor (35), Dawnell Ann Martin (21), Dawn Sue Martin (42), and Dominick Martin (17).
Each has been charged with several charges. Some charges include racketeering, which is a 20 year felony.
