SHIAWASSEE COUNTY -- It was a silent courtroom as the guilty verdict was read for Harlan Drake.
He is convicted of murdering Mike Fuoss and James Pouillon September 11th 2009.
The families of the victims are still devastated by the events.
"I was shocked by that and you know it just makes me pity him, I keep him and his family in my prayers," said daughter of James Pouillon, Mary Jo Pouillon.
Jurors took less than four hours to reach a guilty verdict on all four counts.
Count one, guilty of homicide in the first-degree premeditated murder of James Pouillon.
Count two guilty of homicide in the first degree premeditated murder of Michael Lee Fuoss;
Count three weapons felony firearm; Count four weapons carrying with unlawful intent.
The prosecuting attorneys are pleased with the outcome.
"This is the way the system is supposed to work, the defendant had his day in court, he had excellent advocates, and my chief assistant and I did our best to convey to the jury what we thought the defendant was guilty of," said Lawyer Randy Colbry.
Mr. Drake's defense attorneys, who argued during trial that Drake was mentally ill, said they were not surprised by the verdict.
"He has accepted the verdict, he does not appear to have a problem with the verdict, I don't think he had through out these proceedings, whatever the jury decided, he was prepared to accept from his reaction,” said Lawyer Robert Ashley.
A unanimous decision for all twelve jurors, that will be felt by many.
"This has been a hard situation for this entire community there are very few people in this community that haven’t been touched one way or another by this trial, said Lawyer Sara
Harlan Drake is expected to be sentenced April 23, 2010.
