Search efforts for missing 22-year-old Matthew Poole came to a sudden end Thursday with an anonymous tip of where his body was located.
"Isabella co sheriff deputies responded to the field that was described after a little searching they did locate a body, the individual was an African American male, he did fit the description of the missing individual Mr. Poole," said Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski
This comes after weeks of searching.
"We did searches we had officers on bicycles and additional patrol efforts to in an attempt to try to locate him," said Chief Anthony Gomez-Mesquita.
On the weekend of February 5th, Poole came to the Mount Pleasant area to visit college friends attending Central Michigan University. According to officials, Poole was drunk that night and was turned away from two local bars.
"We positively were able to identify five of Mr. Poole’s where-abouts on at least five different locations where he was either spotted or picked up on video the night prior to being reported missing,” said Gomez-Mesquita.
Authorities say witnesses also reported seeing Poole walking in the direction of a field behind the Sam’s Club on Encore Blvd where the body was found.
“I can tell you that there was no an apparent injury or obvious trauma to the body after the investigation," said Mioduszweski.
Officials say this death is extremely suspicious because they searched for weeks to find the body. After several tips and several weeks of searching, they found nothing until they received an anonymous tip from a caller who knew exactly where the body was.
An autopsy will be performed in hopes to learn more.
