MT. PLEASANT -- A Mt. Pleasant man was sentenced to three years in a federal prison for sexual abuse with a minor. 41- year old David Merrill, a Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Member, was sentenced Tuesday by United States District Judge Thomas Ludington to 36 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release after pleading guilty on December 8th, 2009 to sexual abuse of a minor.
The incident happend in 2001 when Merrill climbed into a bed with a 13-year old who was sleeping at his house. Merrill tried to force the victim to perform oral sex several times.
