(AP) -- A lawyer for Detroit political consultant Sam Riddle is asking a judge to take him off a suburban corruption case. John Minock (MIN'-ick) says there's been a breakdown in his relationship with Riddle since he represented him in another corruption trial that ended in a mistrial.
Riddle had used Twitter to criticize Minock and co-counsel Ed Wishnow as "ineffective." A federal judge is holding a hearing Wednesday on Minock's request to withdraw. Riddle is accused of passing bribes to a Southfield councilman on behalf of a pawn shop that wanted to open in the Detroit suburb.
Trial is set for June 1 in federal court.
