It's all the rage in movies, and it's coming to a small screen near you, 3D television.
It's available right now in MidMichigan.
NBC25 stopped by ABC Warehouse in Flint Township to check it out.
The television industry is racing to meet viewer's demands for 3D. DreamWorks' "Monsters vs. Aliens" was incredibly popular in 3D theaters. Now it's available on a much smaller screen.
ABC Warehouse's assistant manager, Joe Durbin, says "It's tomorrow's technology today because once there's more content, eventually everything I'm sure, will be going 3D."
ABC Warehouse has a live display where you can check out all three dimensions yourself.
If you want the same experience at home, the television has to be 3D capable.
You also need interactive, wireless, battery powered glasses. To watch 3D movies, your Blue-ray player has to be 3D as well.
Durbin says, "It's actually been out for a couple of years, but it's really a buzz right now that people are excited about." For the traditionalists, their viewing experience will be unaltered.
Durbin says, "A lot of the public's question too is if you can just watch it in 2D, which yes you can."
A Samsung model can be purchased right now.
Panasonic's version will be available soon and many more brands will feature 3D TV's by this summer.
For those who have purchased a Sony Playstation 3, the unit doubles as a blue-ray player and Sony says there will be an upgrade that will make the machine 3D capable.
Also, a big 3D event that's being billed for this summer is the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
