The Mott Park Neighborhood Association has joined the Pepsi Refresh Challenge to enter the race for a $50,000 grant to aid in the replacement of the current playground equipment in Mott Park. Voting is underway and ends on Friday, April 30, 2010.
Nena Woodall, the Mott Park Neighborhood Association's park and playground coordinator, knows this vision can become a reality with dedication, planning and community involvement. She states, "A new & safe park will make our current residents want to stay within the city to enjoy an afternoon with their families and it will also attract new families to the neighborhood."
The neighborhood association will also host their annual park clean up on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plans are to remove debris, repair the park's tennis courts and to prepare the park's flowerbeds for the growing season. Activities will include children games, an egg hunt and lunch. Mott Park's monthly recycle collection will also take place on this day. In case of rain, the clean up will be postponed to Saturday, May 8, 2010. Residents and non-residents are encouraged to attend.
