(AP) -- Eminem had a relapse in 2009. He was going to have another this year, but instead decided to head straight toward recovery. Eminem's label, Interscope Records, said Thursday the Detroit rap superstar's new album, called "Recovery," will be released June 22.
It will come out just over a year after his last album, "Relapse," which debuted atop the Billboard Top 200 chart and eventually went platinum.
Eminem planned to release "Relapse 2" in 2010, but in Thursday's statement he says: "As I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to 'Relapse' started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on 'Recovery' came out very different from 'Relapse,' and I think it deserves its own title."
