FLINT -- Michigan has approved a tax break for a health care company's plans to move it's headquarters to Flint.
Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy is a family owned company in Swartz Creek. Tuesday, the Michigan Economic Growth Authority Board approved a $61.5-million tax credit for the company to expand and build a headquarters in Flint.
The expansion is expected to bring more than 1,000 jobs in the first five years, and possible 4,000 more jobs in following years.
The new headquarters of Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy will be located at the GM Great Lakes Technology Centre on South Saginaw Street.
According to the company’s website, Diplomat’s plans to utilize the space for “a state-of-the-art distribution hub to control Diplomat’s nationwide network, an advanced specialty pharmacy compounding laboratory to serve the nation, a new industry training and education center, a high technology software development and data center, and a national patient call center.”
