(AP) -- UNIONVILLE, Mich. - Authorities have recovered the body of a Tuscola County man missing since his overturned kayak was found almost two weeks ago in Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay.
Petty Officer Toddy Murray, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman, says relatives on Tuesday confirmed the body was that of 27-year-old Nathan Southgate.
A Michigan State Police underwater recovery team located the body at about 12:30 p.m. near Sunset Bay Marina in Unionville, 110 miles north of Detroit.
The Wisner Township resident left the marina in his 10-foot kayak April 14, and a search began after it was found empty later that night. The Coast Guard suspended its search of the bay two days later, and Michigan State Police ended their search on April 21.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
