MIDLAND -- NBC25 has received information that there was a chemical spill at Dow Chemical on Thursday morning.

The Midland Fire Department reports there was a chemical released from a cleaning process at Dow Chemical on Thursday morning.  No one was injured during the incident.

Dow Chemical reports that the company identified the cause of the chemical odor and shut down the operation of that particular cleaning tank around 9:45 a.m.

Offiicals report that while there might be an order in the surrounding areas for quite some time, there are no health risks. Citizens should not be concerned.

H.H. Dow High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning because of the incident.  The school is approximately five miles from the chemical company.  The school has since reopened.
