(AP) -- Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land reminds voters across Michigan to cast absentee ballots for Tuesday's local elections. Land says in a release that to vote absentee, voters must be registered and meet other criteria. That criteria includes being age 60 or older, physically unable to go to polls without assistance from someone else, and expected to be out of town during the time polls are open.
People who are in jail awaiting arraignment or trial, unable to go to polling places due to religious reasons, and appointed to work as an election inspector outside of their residential precinct also can vote absentee.
