SHIAWASSEE CO. -- The following is a message from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department:
The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office has taken two suspects into custody and identified three others who are believed to be collectively responsible for 36 commercial burglaries concentrated in Caledonia Twp., Rush Twp., Bennington Twp., and the City of Owosso in Shiawassee County.
Sheriff’s Officer personnel secured and executed a search warrant at approximately 12:35 pm on 5/3-10 on North Park St. in the City of Owosso. During the execution of the warrant one suspect was immediately taken into custody while the second suspect jumped out a window and fled on foot. An exhaustive ground search was initiated which concluded with the second suspect being taken into custody by Sheriff’s Office personnel inside a residence in the 500 block of N. Hickory St. in the City of Owosso at approximately 6:20 pm.
Both suspects are currently lodged without bond at the Shiawassee County Jail. The identity of the suspects is being withheld pending formal charging and arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the search by the Owosso Police Department, Corunna Police Department, Michigan State Police Post 15, as well as the Michigan State Police Dist. 1 Fugitive Team.
